The Condiment You Have Been Missing

Curtido is a delicious fermented food tradition from El Salvador in Central America. With a base of cabbage, onion, and carrot, Curtido is spiced with oregano, cumin, chili flakes, and garlic. Traditionally served with pupusas, a stuffed pocket made from corn flour, Curtido has variations from around Central America and the Caribbean, as well as a variety of uses. It is great on tacos, scrambled eggs, with a sausage - especially something spicy like chorizo - on a salad, in coleslaw, or on a sandwich or burger.  Add some great flavors to many meals with Salvadoran Curtido!
